I signed Melia up for Sing the World Green camp because it sounded like a lovely, thoughtful blend of singing and environmental stewardship. It turned out to be all of that and more. The campers also learned beatboxing and sign language. They climbed trees and played in creeks. They created beautiful nature art and made new friends. Melia declared it the best camp of her life!
Crystal, a happy parent
The Sing the World Green late-start choir at Creekside Elementary was intensely popular. Amy ended up with triple the enrollment than was expected. The parents were really excited and the kids had so much fun. The whole community rallied around what she was doing.

Original Sing the World Green
Amy Self has composed some delightful pieces for children’s choirs which deliver meaningful text on environmental matters of great importance. Her seriousness of purpose, appreciation for beauty in nature, and devotion to care of the earth shine through in engaging and tuneful songs which arouse both thoughtfulness and musicality in our students. Among a beautiful and challenging set of pieces learned by my recent Honor Choir students, “What a World” was a clear favorite, resulting in heartfelt, artistically-gratifying performances of this piece. As an elementary music teacher, Amy Self brings mastery-level knowledge of appropriate music for young voices to each piece so that her music is leveled to challenge, delight, and make clear connections with concepts which are central to learning objectives and the elementary music curriculum.

Amy has created some amazing music that we have been so happy to use in our school. My favorite is "A Rainbow on My Plate.” Our school promotes living a healthy lifestyle, and as part of that, we promote healthy school parties and making good choices for lunch, both in what kids bring to school and the options they can choose from. One day during a grade-level lunch group, the students told me I did not have a rainbow on my plate. Students have taken the song and its message to heart. Amy has created catchy tunes with healthy messages. I can't wait to see what else she brings us. We are so lucky to have her at our school!
